My 2012 Sephora Friends & Family Sale Wishlist!

Here are a few things that I have my eye on for the upcoming Sephora VIB/Friends & Family sale (what will this be called?) - and I'm hoping that it is announced soon before my list grows any longer!

Korres Radiance Revealed Wild Rose Brightening Duo:

At $48, this set is a steal! You basically buy the cream and get the wash for free. I've been enjoying my Wild Rose eye cream by Korres, so I'm looking forward to trying other items from the Wild Rose line!

Bobby Brown Creamy Concealer Kit:

I've been needing a replacement concealer for my now discontinued Sephora creamy concealer that I use under my eyes since I've almost run out - and this seems like it should do the trick!

Tarina Taratino Fuschia Brush set:

They're pretty! They're pink! They seem functional! Need I say anymore?

Make Up For Ever Aqua Eyes eyeliner in Shimmering Plum:

I've been wanting a nice purple shade eyeliner for quite a bit, and this seems like it will be perfect!

Laura Mercier Creme Smooth Lipstick in Antique Pink:

My favorite lipstick by Too Faced (Lip of Luxury in Free Love) has now been discontinued as well, so I'm on the hunt for a suitable new favorite. This may take some searching, but this Laura Mercier shade does look lovely.

Philosophy Full of Fortune Cookie Shower Gel:

My all time favorite Philosophy shower gel, which is limited edition and I'm just waiting for it be discontinued since I love it so much! I might have to get two just in anticipation of it no longer being available!

And that is the general gist of it! There always seems to be a few changes right before I submit my yearly sale order - but these are the things that I'm thinking about the most right now!

Chicago Shopping Vlog & Haul!

We had a great time shopping Michigan Avenue in Chicago! I did just a brief mini vlog of the day... not much time for filming between the shopping and keeping up with babies! I did get a few cute shots though, Bella was especially excited about the horses and the stickers...

MI shopping vlogs!

We went on a bit of a "tour of the Midwest" for a family vacation, and Michigan was our last stop along the way... We were able to meet up with good friends, have a baby playdate, and do a little shopping! I took a few shopping vlogs or walking tours of the malls there to share with you our shopping experiences at Great Lakes Crossing in Auburn Hills, Michigan and Somerset Collection in Troy, Michigan!

Enjoy! I'm going to do a follow-up "haul" video of what I bought while we were there in the next week or so!

Florida Finds...

Well surprisingly I didn't really do much shopping while we were in Florida! (Shocking, I know!) I wasn't really in the mood, I was more looking forward to the theme parks with Cupcake... and the short time I was at shopping places I didn't really find much that called me to me and said "you must take me home!". So that was that!

I did go to the Premium Outlets one of the days I was there to also meet up with a friend for lunch. (Such a great time!) And enjoyed being able to walk around outside without a winter coat on! Although I looked in a number of stores, Dior... Coach... Juicy Couture... I just didn't really see anything of interest! Finally at the last store we went in, Banana Republic - I grabbed a couple of cute clothing items that I liked.

My two lone Florida purchases from the Banana Republic Outlet
I ended up getting a tan cardigan with twist edge details, and a orchid colored top with a cute ruching on the sleeves.

I think my loss of interest in the Orlando outlets might be because the area that we live in now has all of the same stores at an outlet mall close to my house, and all of the same stores at Mall at Millenia can be found at my local mall, Somerset Collection. So there really isn't any appeal of "new" stores to browse through, when I can pretty much get anything down there near home now. In any case, it's still fun to be walking outdoors amongst palm trees, instead of stuck indoors because there is snow on the ground!

Perfume Atomizers...

I love when you open a magazine, to find something sitting in the pages that you were already hunting down or contemplating getting. It just kind of gives you that feeling of being on point, and honestly... it's also just nice because it gives you another store reference of where to find the item!

This happened to me most recently when I was flipping through (back to front, of course) my Lucky (shopping & style) magazine this weekend. I have no idea why I back to front - but for some reason it helps me take in the information better.

As I was flipping through, I found on page 113 of the April 2011 edition, something I had been on the hunt for over a month now - a perfume atomizer!

Available on www.smallflower.com (Currently sold out)

I love these things... they remind me of my childhood, when I would sneak into my grandmother's bedroom and stare at her vanity, knowing I wasn't supposed to touch anything on it. She had a small dainty ring box that played music when you opened it and was a shimmery golden color. From what I remember, the top had a mother of pearl inset that had a picture of a peacock... or a piano... or something majestic. Or maybe it was shaped like a piano... in any case, I just wanted to open it, and close it. And open it...

It was one of those traditional vanity areas, that had a mirrored tray that everything set on, a beautiful comb and brush that always sat on there, and I'm sure there were other bits that were on there as well. It's interesting how the mind always remembers the things that made the most impression on us.

I was most intrigued by a beautiful perfume atomizer, that had the long string that hung off of it, with a tassel on the ball at the end. (I obviously don't know the technical names for all of these pieces.) I wanted to be an adult, right there, right then. I wanted to brush my hair with the brush, put on makeup while looking in the mirror, and spritz on a dash of perfume with this regal atomizer before walking out the door to go somewhere important.

As best as I can recall, I don't think I ever did spray that atomizer - but it did make a lasting impression on me. It's been on my mind for the past month or so after seeing an atomizer during at trip to Hobby Lobby in February... and I've contemplated getting one for my dresser ever since. I know I want to get one, but I would love to find one that resembles the one that I have in my mind from my grandmother's vanity, a beautiful rose gold colored glass with a cream atomizer.

For now though, I may have to be content with the various reproductions that are available at retail outlets like hobby - for at very least an atomizer that I want to be able to use. I do remember while visiting antique stores in Missouri one time four or five years ago, then the one downside to vintage perfume atomizers is usually that had residual perfume leftover in them, and have an "old perfume" smell to them. So great for home decor, but not as great if you want to actually be able to use it to put your own perfume in them.

So maybe atomizers have been something I've always wanted to get as an adult, since I remember intently looking at them on that trip in Missouri, but always putting them back for some reason. I think it's time I finally gave in, and added a pretty perfume atomizer to the perfume area on my dresser...
